Second Suspect Arrested In Death Of N. Korean Dictator's Half-Brother

19 February 2017

Two prime female suspects arrested in the assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's half brother Kim Jong-nam are brought to Kuala Lumpur International Airport in the Malaysian capital Friday morning for an on-site reenactment of the crime.

The scuffle over postmortem procedure came just before Malaysian authorities arrested North Korean citizen Ri Jong Chol at a Kuala Lumpur apartment, making him the fourth person to be detained in connection with the murder.

"It is normal procedure as we can not release the body to just anyone", said Abdul Samah Mat, police chief of Selangor.

A senior Malaysian police official said on Thursday that a third suspect has been arrested by police in the death of a man from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Local investigators are still trying to piece together details of the case.

North Korea said it would categorically reject Malaysia's autopsy report, and accused Malaysia of "colluding with outside forces", in a veiled reference to rival nation South Korea.

The DPRK embassy in Malaysia has not confirmed the identity of the suspect.

"The South Korean puppet authorities [.] are distorting the public opinion, resorting to the tricky plots to defame the image of North Korea with this incident", he said.

But a source in Beijing with ties to both the North Korean and Chinese governments told Reuters that North Korea was not involved in his killing, and had no motive.

Congressman Mick Mulvaney, R-S.C., was narrowly confirmed by the Senate as President Donald Trump's budget director on Thursday. House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said Mulvaney will "improve the way government does the people's business".

She was identified from airport CCTV footage and had an Indonesian passport.

A medical staffer who participated in the autopsy told the JoongAng Ilbo that Kim Jong-nam's face was "red".

Passengers leave the departure hall Thursday at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia where Kim Jong Nam was reportedly attacked and killed two days before.

He died en route to the hospital in Putrajaya.

"North Korea has submitted a request to claim the body, but before we release the body we have to identify who the body belongs to", he said.

But the two women and the Malaysian man, thought to be the taxi driver who took them from the airport, were quickly apprehended.

Aisyah's accomplice, 28-year-old Doan Thi Huong, who has also been arrested, told police she though the assassination was for a prank video as well, according to a China Press report.

But some analysts question what motive Kim Jong-un would have to kill his estranged half-brother, given the risk of the operation and possibilities for embarrassment, added to the fact that he was not seen as a threat to Mr Kim's leadership.

Kim Jong-nam's mother was Kim Jong-il's first wife Song Hye-rim, one of at least three women the former leader had children with. That's when he was caught trying to enter Japan on a Dominican passport - to visit Disneyland.
