"It doesn't mean we're not going to remain friendly, because the number one goal is to co-parent our children, and we have to remain friendly because we know how important it is for them to have good parents".
"We tried the counseling, it just wasn't working", he acknowledges. "I didn't understand. It got really blown out of proportion".

When asked if he was "suicidal", he responded, "Absolutely never". Tarek and I met 10 years ago at work and went through a market crash, we went through [Tarek's] cancer, infertility. "It's like anything, there's challenges in life. We love releasing a good product for our fans and just had to fight through it and do the best we could and I think it turned out great". Tarek opens up to Sheinelle Jones and Al Roker on his career, his battle with cancer and his split with Christina.
He is now in remission now, but chose to come out about his testicular cancer in order to raise awareness of the disease. The couple has been spotted together several times since Tarek and Cristina confirmed the end of their marriage.
Tarek, meanwhile, appeared on Today in a pre-taped interview.

In a statement, Oakland police officer Johnna Watson said: 'This is extremely concerning for the Oakland police Department. An armed man who opened fire on police from a second story window was shot by police after a standoff Friday morning.
"We admire and appreciate Tarek and Christina's great work on "Flip or Flop.' When it comes to matters related to their own family, we respect their privacy and honor any decision that works best for them and their children", the network said then in a statement obtained by ABC News".
"We have so much fun on set and we look forward to continuing the show", she told GMA.
"Christina is single and being in a relationship is the last thing on her mind", El Moussa's rep Cassandra Zebisch tells Us.
"So just shows our kids are transitioning well", Christina asserted. "Honestly, despite everything, I'm doing really, really, really good", she said in the interview. I was overwhelmed. The tension between me and Tarek was high. "We weren't able to properly communicate anymore", she tells the magazine, adding that they eventually reached a point where they couldn't even drive to the Flip or Flop set in the same auto.
