"The same White House official said that Priebus later reached out again to McCabe and to FBI Director James Comey asking for the FBI to at least talk to reporters on background to dispute the stories", CNN reports. "The FBI is totally unable to stop the national security "leakers" that have permeated our government for a long time".
According to an anonymous senior administration official, Priebus responded to the FBI's McCabe: "Okay, what am I supposed to do?" and "How do we fix this?"
President Trump's top advisers took the stage today at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference.
"A source says that Donald Trump is a frightful, awful human being, let them say it to my face", Mr Trump told the Conservative Political Action Committee.

The Priebus-McCabe-Comey discussion appears to violate longstanding justice department rules meant to insulate FBI investigations from political interference.

Earlier this month, a USA official said a months-long inquiry into contacts between Russian government officials and associates of Trump's campaign and business interests was continuing despite the firing of national security adviser Michael Flynn for misleading White House officials about his communication with Russia.
