US to open CONCACAF Gold Cup against Panama on July 8

The United States Men's National Team is in a good position for this summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup after groups and schedules were announced Tuesday at Levi's Stadium, site of the tournament final in July. We open with a challenging game against Panama, and Martinique has the ability to surprise teams with the quality of their players. Honduras, the victor of January's Copa Centroamericana are seeded in Group A and will face Costa Rica, French Guiana and Canada. The victor plays the U.S.in Cleveland July 15. Three days later, it will wrap up group play against either Haiti or Nicaragua on Saturday, July 15, at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.

The United States will face Panama in the 2017 Gold Cup group stages while Mexico's group will feature a rematch of the 2015 final against Jamaica. Martinique and the victor of a playoff between Haiti and Nicaragua round out the group.

Theodore Whitmore remains optimistic about the Reggae Boyz chances to advance from the CONCACAF Gold Cup first round, noting his charges will give their all in Group C of the upcoming tournament. "We don't take any of our opponents for granted".
