Vine Young set to sign with team in Canada

11 March 2017

Vince Young, a former quarterback with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles and Tennessee Titans, holds up a jersey after signing with the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders at Mosaic Stadium in Regina Thursday, March 9, 2017.

NFL Career: Young played 6 NFL seasons and during his rookie season with the Tennessee Titans, he was named Rookie of the Year, after four more seasons in Tennessee, the team released him after his play declined.

Most of the signal callers who have come to the CFL and thrived have little to no National Football League time.

Once his contract with the Roughriders is finalized, the 33-year-old Young will, at last, get his shot at football redemption in just a few months, as the CFL's season runs from June through November.

Vince Young is headed to the CFL. Steinberg also felt Young's mobility would make for an easier adjustment to Canadian football.

When is the premiere of 'Game of Thrones' season 7?
Fans of HBO's hit series " Game of Thrones " have been eager to find out when the show will return in 2017. While details of the upcoming season are as scarce as always, a new poster teases a "fire vs. ice" theme.

The former Longhorns star and NFL Pro Bowler hired Steinberg in February to assist with his return to pro football.

In 2006, Young was also named the Big 12 Athlete of the Year and in 2008 the University of Texas retired his number 10.

When Young gets to his first Roughriders practice, it will be his first time playing for a professional team since May 2014, when he was cut after going through minicamp with the Browns.

Derek Dennis, the CFL's top lineman past year with Calgary who signed with Saskatchewan this off-season as a free agent, tweeted "All I gotta say is don't worry about getting touched in that pocket!" I'm so excited to play the game again. He announced his retirement in 2014, but Saskatchewan has kept him on its negotiation list in case he made a decision to resume playing.

He was once on the negotiations list for the CFL's Montreal Allouettes - but although nothing ever came of that, there's a good chance that he could sign with Saskatchewan this time around.
