Bill O'Reilly taking a break amid sponsor backlash

19 April 2017

It may seem humanly impossible, but Bill O'Reilly just got a little bit more disgusting.

Andrea Tantaros, another former Fox News host, had accused O'Reilly in a lawsuit a year ago claiming he and other executives of the network had made sexual advances toward her, according to reports.

At the end of his top-rated show The O'Reilly Factor, the host said he scheduled the trip last fall.

But New York Magazine reports that four separate network sources said Tuesday's episode could be O'Reilly's final show on the network.

Bill O'Reilly's Fox News Channel presence in recent days has sparked social-media outrage and advertiser defections. "And there's a cynicism about the degree of sincerity with which the Murdoch family and the top executives are operating".

O'Reilly and 21st Century Fox reportedly paid a sum of $13million to Rachel Bernstein, Andrea Mackris, Rebecca Diamond, Laurie Dhue and Juliet Huddy - all of whom either worked with him or appeared on his show. Both reports cite anonymous sources close to the situation. The company also reached deals to settle a raft of allegations against Roger Ailes. Lawyers hired last summer by 21st Century Fox to investigate Roger Ailes are now doing a "deep dive" investigation into O'Reilly's behavior. James Murdoch, an environmentalist and political moderate, clearly sees the writing on the wall and is attempting to drag his father's empire in the 21st century - and that means giving nasty bullies and misogynists like O'Reilly the boot as quickly as possible.

O'Reilly used his show Tuesday to say that he was going on a planned vacation. Meanwhile, more than 50 advertisers, including bigwigs like drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline and Mercedes-Benz have pulled their advertisements from "The O'Reilly Factor" in protest.

O'Reilly will return to his program April 24, according to his representative.

"We all need R&R", O'Reilly advised his viewers Tuesday. And O'Reilly said in a statement on his website that he settled the claims in order to "put to rest any controversies to spare my children". Plan it. Don't run into horror on the road. "Because you should have taken it all the way", the President said.

"I believe that Bill O'Reilly sexually harassed Wendy Walsh", he told host Joy Reid.
