Delaney was shot in the face Friday night when he and other Braintree Police responded to the Motel 6 at 125 Union St. around 9:30 p.m.to serve a warrant regarding a domestic case to 25-year-old Tizaya Jordan Robinson.

Officials said Delaney may need surgery to remove the bullet from his head.

A police officer has been shot in the face at a MA motel, where the shooter is holed up in a room.

Officers approached the room with caution as Robinson had active warrants out of Dorchester District Court for assault and battery, attempted kidnapping and threatening to commit a crime. The bullet remains lodged in Delaney's head and he is will likely undergo surgery. He is expected to survive.

Latta votes for overtime flexibility bill
House of Representatives passed the Working Families Flexibility Act allowing workers to opt for comp time instead of pay. Beyond this, it is unclear whether a "comp time" arrangement under the bill would satisfy state overtime requirements.

Police moved a robotic camera into the room around 2 a.m. Saturday morning and found Robinson dead with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head that the DA said appeared to be self-inflicted.

Delaney has been with the Braintree Police Department since 2010 and has been awarded two life-saving awards.

"He has performed on a regular basis in an admirable way and he is an excellent police officer", said Braintee Mayor Joe Sullivan.

Robinson remained barricaded inside the motel until nearly 2 a.m. when police heard shots ring out. "We have sent numerous patrols to assist local police in setting up a perimeter outside (the) motel", Procopio said.
