Rashtriya Janata Dal leader and former union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh wasted no time in dubbing the raids an "attempt to destroy Lalu Prasad and the RJD".

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday accused the BJP-led central government of practising "vendetta politics" against opposition leaders.

"After all, it is not us who demanded reopening of fodder scam cases. The Supreme Court gave the verdict", he said. One such land deal involving Lalu Prasad and his family members is in Bijwasan in Delhi.

CBI confirmed that the raids in Chennai were related to INX Media, formerly owned by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea.

"They have not seized any documents and can not prove any charges against me".

Reacting to the raids on Chidambaram and his son, the Congress said: "The truth is that revenge has become a DNA of the BJP".

Kumar should submit a roadmap to the Centre giving details as how much funds was required for which scheme, the dalit leader said.

On EVM tampering issue, Paswan said that his party supported Election Commission's contention that it was hard to tamper with EVMs and the Centre was in favour of bringing more transparency.

"There is no allegation against me", he added. Lalu's younger son Tejashwi Yadav is Deputy Chief Minister and elder son Tej Pratap Yadav is Bihar Health Minister.

On Afghanistan, Coats said the situation "will very likely continue to deteriorate, even if global support is sustained". But he said China can and should do more.

P Chidambaram had served as the Finance Minister during the tenure of the UPA government.

In his characteristic style Lalu dared the BJP to put him down through raids.

He also wondered whether Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would invoke a special law enacted by his government which allows the confiscation of assets acquired through illegal money.

"Do not be tempted, the alliance is intact". Now, we have to bring together other parties with similar ideologies. "I am not scared of the BJP letting loose the Government machinery on me", he wrote on the microblogging website Twitter.

The FIR does not mention the name of Chidambaram, though it states that he had cleared the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval for Rs 4.62 crore Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the FIPB meeting on May 18, 2007.

"The Central agencies have acted on the alleged benami properties that were in the public domain for the past 40 days". RSS-BJP is scared of Lalu.

Earlier in the day, even as the IT raids were on in Delhi and adjoining areas, Prasad's colleagues Jha, Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Prabhunath Singh, Bihar RJD chief Ramchandra Purve, Prasad's trusted lawyer Chittaranjan Sinha and others visited his wife Rabri Devi's 10, Circular Road residence at Patna.

Lalu's tweet came soon after BJP leader Sushil Modi alleged on Tuesday that Lalu's daughter Misa Bharti, who is also a Rajya Sabha member and has been in the eye of storm over alleged land deals in Delhi, had purchased industrialist Vivek Nagpal's company KHK Holding Pvt Ltd for just Rs 1 lakh.
