India's Aditi Ashok got off to a fine start with a one-under 70 that put her at tied-28th in the first round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic golf here. Celine Herbin, of France, tees off on the fifth hole during the first round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic golf tournament Friday, June 2, 2017, in Galloway Township, N.J. "I just asked him how much to carry after that".

Nordqvist carded an even par 71 and said she'd be aggressive on Sunday in seeking a third-straight title. The missed cut also meant she would not advance to the No. 1 world ranking from her current No. 3; she needed a top-three finish here to do that.

"You know, I really prepared for this, I really didn't expect it right away, but I knew my game was better than past year", Kim said, after claiming her fifth LPGA Tour victory.

"I feel like I enjoy this place, but at the same time, I don't feel like I have anything to prove here", Nordqvist said. I knew there was a time I was going to kind of break through. Couldn't get my wedges in close at all, so I spent a lot of time on the range afterward just working on my wedge game.

The 26-year-old Ryu thrust herself into the race for number one with a victory in the year's first major, the ANA Inspiration - where her playoff victory came after American Lexi Thompson was controversially penalized in the middle of the final round for an infraction on the previous day.

"It felt good today to go out there and crush all of it and keep building momentum", Wie said.

"We were on the clock for four holes", Creamer said.

Ariya Jutanugarn took the No. 1 spot in the world ranking without hitting a shot, and Paula Creamer and In-Kyung Kim topped the ShopRite LPGA Classic leaderboard Saturday. "It was really tricky out there, but I gave my best". Ko, also skipping the event, was guaranteed to lose the top spot to Ariya Jutanugarn or Ryu, and Ariya Jutanugarn got the position when Ryu failed to finish solo third or better. She almost won this tournament as an amateur in 2004 but missed a putt on the final green and wound up tying for second behind Cristie Kerr.

Moriya Jutanugarn, of Thailand, prepares to putt on the fourth hole during the second round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic golf tournament Saturday, June 3, 2017, in Galloway Township, N.J. She was two-under-par after a 69.

Brooke Henderson is the only Canadian to make the cut and is tied for eighth.
