The official said the list included at least three names: Representatives Mo Brooks of Alabama, Jeff Duncan of SC and Trent Franks of Arizona, according to the two officials who spoke on condition of anonymity because the shooting remained under investigation.
House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise was one of four people wounded in the shooting.
Officials also found cell-phone pictures of the baseball field where Hodgkinson fired shots, The New York Times reported.
According to the officials who spoke with NBC News, the list included Rep. Trent Franks of Arizona, Rep. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina, Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama, and one or two other names that officials would not reveal.
This evidence may prove the fact that Hodgkinson's attack was not a random crime, but instead a calculated, premeditated political assassination attempt.

"Fox News understands that the Capitol Hill police have reached out independently to all of the offices on the list", Herridge said.
U.S. Rep. Mike Bost, a Murphysboro Republican whose 12th Congressional District covers the Belleville, Illinois, area, has said Hodgkinson contacted his offices a number of times, but none of the communication seemed threatening, according to Bost spokesman George O'Connor. He says Hodgkinson told him Trump screwed up the nation "more than anyone in the history of this country".
There is extensive research on shooters who kill multiple victims, but none on those, like Hodgkinson, who only wound, experts say. It is not clear whether the gunman specifically targeted them in the attack. The bullet fractured bone and injured organs, MedStar Washington Hospital Center said.
In addition to the note the Federal Bureau of Investigation also seized a cell phone, computer, and a camera all housed in Hodgkinson's vehicle.
Hodgkinson was shot by Capitol Police on the scene after allegedly opening fire and wounded Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., and three others.
President Donald Trump called Griner and another officer who responded to the shooting, officer David Bailey, heroes.
