LA-area father arrested on suspicion of killing missing son

27 June 2017

Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department homicide investigators seized Aramazd Andressian, 35, Friday afternoon and he's being held in jail in lieu of $10 million bail. It's also not clear why the California native was in Nevada at the time of his arrest.

A law enforcement press conference regarding the arrest of Aramazd Andressian Sr. on suspicion of murder charges is scheduled for Monday. He faces a maximum possible sentence of 25 years to life in state prison if convicted on the charge, Lacey said.

Metro Police have arrested a suspect accused of killing his son in southern California.

The elder Andressian has been uncooperative and has allegedly given false information to investigators since he was placed under suspicion, Mendoza said.

"Investigators believe that this is a pre-planned event", he said.

"My son's disappearance is my worst nightmare", she said.

"My heart is shattered and I will miss my son immensely each and every second of every day for the rest of my life", the boy's mother, Ana Estevez, said in a statement released by the sheriff's department. "I am counting the days until I see you honey and I will never stop looking for you", she said. The boy, Aramazd Andressian Jr., was last spotted on a Disneyland surveillance video late April 20 and hasn't been seen since, according to the sheriff's department. A pedestrian had found him unconscious next to his vehicle at a South Pasadena park and called police.

The father told investigators he had taken his son to the park while they waited for a nearby golf course to open.

Aramazd Andressian Jr. has been missing for two months. The boy's father had reportedly recently moved into the home, where investigators "seized various items of evidence", according to a sheriff's statement released at the time. Searches of the park and Cachuma Lake, where Andressian visited on April 21, turned up no signs of the boy.

Authorities have spent the past few months searching for Aramazd.

Andressian admitted to ingesting prescription medication that was not prescribed to him that day, Mendoza said.

"When those efforts did not bring young Aramazd home to his mother, we focused our prime suspect, his father", MocDonnell said.

"I felt very sad", Levon Asatourian, Andressian Sr.'s uncle, told NBC4 Friday night.

It was not the boy's father who lodged a complaint that his son was missing.

Mendoza said the alleged slaying appeared to be the result of a "tumultuous divorce" between the boy's mother and father. Andressian Sr was arrested in Las Vegas, NY on June 23, 2017. They also executed a search warrant at the home of the mother of Andressian Montebello. They believe they left Disneyland together and then went to a lake in Santa Barbara County. "[We] need to zero down a smaller area".

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call homicide detectives at 323-890-5500.
