Billie Lourd Accepts Carrie Fisher's Disney Legends Award

On the press line, Hamill spoke about how his Star Wars co-star would have reacted to getting the award and how he hoped her presence in the final of the new trilogy would be treated after Fisher died in December 2016.

Lourd added this was an "ultimate dream" of her mother.

"I know if Carrie was here this morning, she would have flipped me the bird twice already. There was a comfort level with each other, we could rely on each other, and there was a deep respect", Hamill said.

Marvel mastermind Stan Lee, Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey and the late Garry Marshall also received Disney Legends status at the ceremony.
