23 July 2017

President Trump spoke Saturday during the commissioning ceremony for the USS Gerald R. Ford in Norfolk, Virginia.

In the USA, has commissioned the largest and most expensive aircraft carrier in the world - Gerald R. Ford.

The USS Gerald R. Ford will later be joined by the future USS John F. Kennedy, CVN 79, and the future USS Enterprise, CVN 80, as Ford-class vessels.

Mr. Trump used the occasion to call on Congress to complete the fiscal 2018 budget that would boost defense spending by about $54 billion, an increase of roughly 10 percent.

A commissioning is a day of celebration, and honors the dedication, team work, and collaboration of Sailors, legislators, shipbuilders, program managers, and the ship's sponsor in delivering the ship to the fleet.

Construction began in 2008 and was initially slated for completion in September of 2015, but ran into delays.

"The nation's going to be very proud of USS Gerald R. Ford", said Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson. He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Monterey and participated in actions in the Pacific Theater, including at Makin Island, Kwajalein and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. It is being named after former USA president Gerald Ford from Grand Rapids.

Mr Cazes died in jail last week, apparently by taking his own life, according to a statement from the US Department of Justice. The way that the police operation was rolled out appeared created to give police as many new leads as possible.

The president's return visit Saturday was falling during what the White House has coined as "Made in America" week, during which Trump and other administration officials highlighted a wide assortment of products - ranging from trucks and helicopters to baseball bats and glass bottles for pharmaceuticals - that are manufactured in the United States. Ford became president in the aftermath of the Watergate scandal and served in the country's highest office from 1974-1977.

"This ship can basically drive itself", Triana said, pointing to a touch-screen navigation display that has replaced the traditional throttle system used to power and steer the US Navy's older carrier classes. "God bless this ship and all who serve it", said trump.

The technology of the USS Gerald R. Ford, albeit impressive McCormack said, will never be better than the crew.

In 1946, Ford was released from active duty and formally resigned from the Navy in 1963.

The Navy's newest aircraft carrier will be commissioned today at Naval Station Norfolk.

President Donald Trump is presiding over the event at which the $12.9 billion state-of-the-art aircraft carrier will be turned over to the Navy.

The Ford-class is designed with a host of improvements over the Nimitz-class that should significantly improve quality-of-life for sailors and reduce maintenance costs for the Navy.
