American professor, Oxford employee arrested over brutal U.S. killing

06 August 2017

USA authorities have arrested a university professor and another man accused in the stabbing death of a Chicago hairstylist after a nationwide manhunt.

Guglielmi said the victim was involved in a relationship with Lathem, but that they had "some type of falling out".

"We are also thankful both men are safely in custody and this did not end in further tragedy".

Lathem, a respected microbiologist at Northwestern, and Warren, who was visiting Chicago from England, are wanted on first-degree murder charges in last week's killing of 26-year-old Trenton Cornell-Duranleau. Lathem was booked into Alameda County Jail in Oakland and Warren was booked into San Francisco County Jail.

Chicago authoritites have revealed on August 4 that a video has surfaced in which Lathem reportedly apologized to friends and family for his alleged involvement in Cornell-Duranleau's death.

Wyndham Lathem turned himself in Friday evening in Oakland, California, after authorities made contact with him, while Andrew Warren surrendered to police in San Francisco, according to the US Marshals.

The Tribune also reported that one of the men wanted for the murder, shortly before the body was found, went to a library in Lake Geneva, Wis. and made a donation of $1,000 cash in the name of Cornell-Duranleau, asking that the donor remain anonymous.

"I've never seen where suspects in a homicide would make a donation in the victim's name", said Lt. Edward Gritzner.

Trump hired Anthony Scaramucci over Priebus's objections and Scaramucci reports directly to the president. When asked what Priebus said during the flight, King said, "Good poker face, showed nothing".

"Cornell-Duranleau, who suffered multiple lacerations, was pronounced dead at the scene". He declined to elaborate on their relationship.

"Whatever the circumstances, we would urge him to contact the U.S. authorities as soon as possible, in the best interests of everyone concerned".

Somerville College has confirmed that Mr Warren has since been suspended from his post, which he held at the college for eight years.

Mr. Warren had been working at University of Oxford in the United Kingdom processing paychecks and pensions, The Washington Post reported.

Warren's city of residence is listed as Oxford on his arrest warrant. Warren was visiting the USA for the first time, and his connection to the victim, if one exists, is unknown.

"There is no indication of any risk to the Northwestern community from this individual at this time".

"This is now a criminal matter under investigation by the appropriate authorities, and Northwestern University is cooperating in that investigation", its statement said.
