Chelsea's other signing, Zappacosta can play at wing-back or full-back and has been capped by Italy. Drinkwater departs from Leicester City for a reported fee of £35m, joining up with former teammate N'Golo Kante in Chelsea's midfield.

Earlier in the day, the Stamford Bridge club completed the signing of Italy worldwide defender Davide Zappacosta from Torino in a deal reportedly worth around £23m.

"I'm delighted to be a Chelsea player and can't wait to get started".

Zappacosta becomes the fifth new addition for the Blues after Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Willy Caballero.

The player told Chelsea's official website that he is eager to show his quality in the upcoming season after stating it is a dream move.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is clearly keen to add cover at the wing-back position, with Victor Moses lacking serious competition on the right side.

They said "Torino have surrendered to Chelsea" and allowed Davide Zappacosta to leave the club and join them.

Technical director Michael Emenalo commented, "Davide is a player of worldwide calibre who Antonio Conte knows well and we have been aware of for some time".

After missing out to Liverpool on the signing of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal, Chelsea switched their attentions to the 25-year-old Italy worldwide.
